Evangelism
For logistical and efficiency purposes, the SI Turkana Mission has divided Turkanaland into four geographical blocks - East, West, North, and South. SITE, the evangelistic arm of SI is assigned the task of infiltrating the four blocks with the Gospel. SITE has used The Jesus Film to accomplish this purpose since 1999. The screening in remote villages, coupled with SITE's preaching, has resulted in several thousand people putting their faith in Christ as Savior.
SITE is also assigned the task of supporting and encouraging the outreach efforts by the SI-supported pastors and missionaries in the four blocks by organizing evangelistic, revival, discipleship, overnight prayer, and leadership meetings. The team facilitates church planting and construction of worship centers where the pastors and missionaries have made contacts as funds allow. Among the churches that SITE facilitated in planting in 2009 is one in Nakingol village (55 miles northeast of Lodwar) where Missionary George Lokwawi serves. SITE's follow-up ministry in Nakingol in February this year witnessed 30 more people put their faith in Christ as Savior. After three days of extensive teaching, a total of 56 people were baptized in Lake Turkana - 12 miles from the village. They are now enrolled in the Discipleship program.
SITE also conducted a 3-day outreach in Kakuma Refugee Camp (80 miles north of Lodwar) in 2009 in conjunction with Kakuma Cornerstone Church, planted by John Eyanal, a 2006 SI Missions Institute (SIMI) graduate. Among the ten people who received Christ as Savior in the camp was a Muslim man. Physical healing and deliverance from demonic oppression was witnessed at the meetings. Following the outreach, the team ministered to the believers in the areas of leadership, spiritual growth, prayer, and counseling.
Other villages where SITE took the message of salvation include Losipaan (Missionary Wilson Ekamais) - 68 conversions; and Korikipi Village (Missionary John Auda) - 16 conversions.
Between January and March this year, SITE and SICGP (see "SICGP" below) organized and gathered the SI-supported missionaries in Kerio Division for a time of prayer and encouragement. During the same period, SITE also contributed iron sheets, timber, and other building materials for construction of worship centers in Nabulon, Nakurio, and Lolupe villages.
The budget for SITE is $1,000/mo. We request you to donate to this ministry online here at www.shareint.net.
